Focker-In-Law reunites one of comedys most hilariously dysfunctional families for another chapter of awkward encounters and painfully funny misunderstandings. The film brings back Ben Stiller as the permanently frazzled nurse Greg Focker and Robert De Niro as his intimidating former CIA father-in-law Jack Byrnes, alongside returning fan favourites Teri Polo, Blythe Danner and Owen Wilson. Joining the franchise for the first time is global pop superstar Ariana Grande, who plays the fiancée of Greg and Pam?s grown-up son instantly throwing the already chaotic Focker family dynamic into even greater disarray. The original Meet the Parents (2000) became a comedy classic thanks to its unforgettable clash between Greg and Jack, spawning two hugely successful sequels Meet the Fockers (2004) and Little Fockers (2010) which together grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide and cemented the series as one of the biggest comedy franchises of the 21st century.
Directed by longtime franchise writer John Hamburg, the new film shifts the spotlight onto the next generation of the Focker family, as Greg and Pam attempt to navigate weddings, relationships and the terrifying prospect of becoming the in-laws themselves. Ariana Grandes involvement marks an exciting crossover between pop culture and comedy, arriving at a moment when she is enjoying enormous success in film thanks to her scene-stealing role in Wicked. As always with this franchise, the comedy comes from the painfully relatable tension of trying to impress the in-laws while everything inevitably spirals out of control. With its returning cast, fresh new characters and the franchises trademark mix of cringe comedy and heartfelt family chaos, Focker-In-Law promises another riotous entry in one of Hollywoods most enduring comedy series.
